Discovery har för närvarande uppehåll
Discovery är en bibelstudieserie där vi tränger lite djupare i vår kristna tro: Vad är det vi kristna tror, varför tror vi så och var står det i Bibeln?
Upplägget vi haft hittills, från hösten 2022 till och med våren 2025, följer klassisk systematisk teologi, där vi under 39 sessioner har fokuserat på Bibelhistoria och olika översättningar, hur man bör läsa Bibeln, vem Gud är, om änglar, Satan och demoner, om människans natur, om synd, vad Evangeliet är, om den Helige Ande och Andens nådegåvor samt om Jesu återkomst och den yttersta tiden.
Du hittar material (powerpointbilder) till de olika sessionerna om du klickar på någon av de blå rutorna ovan. För session 1–28 hölls två separata grupper – en på svenska och en på engelska – så därför finns det material på respektive språk för de sessionerna. Därefter slog vi ihop de två grupperna och hade bara en grupp. Därför är materialet för session 29–39 i huvudsak på engelska, men kompletterat med bibelverser och en del kommentarer på svenska.
Tidigare upplägg:
Vid varje session inriktade vi oss på ett särskilt tema/ämne. Efter en inledande presentation på 45–60 minuter om vad Bibeln säger om det aktuella ämnet diskuterar och samtalar vi gemensamt om ämnet. Målsättningen är att det blir minst 30 minuters samtalstid under varje session. Vi frågar oss bland annat hur vi som Jesu lärjungar förhåller oss till vad Bibeln säger om ämnet? Finns det en enhetlig tolkning av vad Bibeln lär eller kan man tolka på olika sätt? Vilka frågor eller syn på ämnet har du själv? Hur har detta påverkat ditt liv? Det finns inget krav att vara aktiv vid samtalen – om du upplever att den delen är jobbig, så låt inte det hindra dig från att komma.
Det kostar inget att vara med i Discovery och det är inte heller något krav på att delta varje session – du kan haka på när som helst! Det är inte heller nödvändigt att anmäla sig, men vi ber dig att anmäla dig så att du får information som skickas till deltagarna. Presentationsmaterialet publiceras efter varje session på webbsidan med bibelstudieämnen och ibland skickas information via e-post till de anmälda deltagarna.
Varför vara med i Discovery?
Ett huvudsyfte med Discoveryträffarna är att ge deltagarna tillfälle att lära känna Gud mer – att få större kunskap om Honom och att få utvecklas som Jesu lärjungar. Det gör vi i första hand genom att studera Hans Ord, Bibeln, bearbeta det vi läser och tillämpa det vi läser och lär oss i våra liv.
Alla är välkomna att vara med, både du som varit kristen i många år och du som är relativt ny i tron. Tag gärna med din Bibel, anteckningsbok och penna – eller anteckna digitalt.
Paulus ord i Kol 1:9–10 beskriver syftet med Discovery på ett bra sätt: "Vi ber att ni ska bli fyllda av kunskapen om Hans vilja, med all andlig vishet och insikt. Målet är att ni ska leva värdigt Herren och behaga Honom på alla sätt, genom att bära frukt i alla slags goda gärningar och växa i kunskapen om Gud."

Discovery Bible study series
Discovery is currently on pause
Discovery is a Bible study series where we explore our Christian faith in greater depth: What do we as Christians believe, why do we believe it, and where does it say so in the Bible?
The format we have followed so far – from fall 2022 through spring 2025 – follows classical systematic theology, in which we have spent 39 sessions focusing on Biblical history and various translations, how to read the Bible, who God is, angels, Satan and demons, human nature, sin, what the Gospel is, the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit, as well as the second coming of Jesus and the end times.
You can find materials (PowerPoint slides) for the various sessions by clicking on any of the blue boxes above. For sessions 1–28, two separate groups were held – one in Swedish and one in English – so there are materials in each language for those sessions. After that, we combined the two groups into a single group. Therefore, the materials for sessions 29–39 are primarily in English, but supplemented with Bible verses and some comments in Swedish.
Previous format:
At each session we focus on a specific theme/topic. After an opening presentation of 45–60 minutes on what the Bible says about the current topic, we dialogue together on the topic. The aim is to have at least 30 minutes of conversation time during each session, asking ourselves, among other things, how we as disciples of Jesus relate to what the Bible says about the topic? Is there a single/common interpretation of what the Bible teaches or can it be interpreted in different ways? What are your own questions or views on the topic? How has this affected your life?
There is no requirement to be active in the conversations – if you find that part difficult, don't let it stop you from coming.
There is no cost to join Discovery and there is no requirement to attend every session – you can join at any time! It is also not necessary to register, but we do ask you to sign up so that you receive information sent to participants. The presentation material is published after each session on the Bible study topics webpage and sometimes information is sent by email to the registered participants.
Why participate in Discovery?
A main purpose of Discovery is to give participants the opportunity to get to know God more – to gain a greater knowledge of Him and to develop as disciples of Jesus. We do this primarily by studying His Word, the Bible, processing what we read and applying what we read and learn to our lives.
Everyone is welcome to join, both those who have been Christians for many years and those who are relatively new to the faith. Feel free to bring your Bible, notebook and pen – or take notes digitally.
Paul's words in Col 1:9–10 describe the purpose of Discovery well: "And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all uspiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God"
